Jane Stewart has been painting since 2004. She studied at the Visual Arts Center in Montreal and has taken several studio workshops with painters at the centre including Harold Klunder, Ian Shatilla, Michael Merrill and Robert Wiseman. Jane received her B.A. from Queen’s University and Ph.D. from the University of London. She is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada: Academy of Sciences, and Officer of the Order of Canada. Jane Stewart is Distinguished Professor Emeritus at the Center for Studies in Behavioral Neurobiology, Department of Psychology, Concordia University in Montreal.
Her paintings have been shown in student group shows at the Visual Arts Centre, Montreal since 2004. There were shows of her work at the Scully Building in Montreal in 2009, at Carleton University in Ottawa, and in the Rover Art Fair in Montreal in 2010 and 2011, at Galerie d’art Sutton, QC in 2014, at Galerie Erga, Montreal, QC in 2016, at LaHave Gallery, LaHave, Nova Scotia in 2022 and at Galerie Erga, Montreal in 2023.
Jane Stewart s’adonne à la peinture depuis 2004. Elle a étudié au Centre des arts visuels de Montréal et a suivi plusieurs ateliers avec les peintres Harold Klunder, Victoria LeBlanc et Ian Shatilla. Jane a obtenu son B.A. de l’université Queen’s et son Ph.D. de l’université de Londres. Elle est membre de l’Académie des sciences de la Société royale du Canada et Officier de l’Ordre du Canada. Jane Stewart est une professeure émérite au Centre d’études en neurobiologie comportementale du département de psychologie, de l’université Concordia à Montréal.
Depuis 2004, on a pu voir ses peintures lors d’expositions de travaux des étudiants à la galerie McClure du Centre des arts visuels de Montréal. Il y a eu des expositions de ses peintures à l’edifice Scully à Montréal, 2009, à l’université Carleton à Ottawa, au Salon d’Art Rover à Montréal, 2010, 2011 et à la Galerie d’art Sutton, QC, 2014, à la Galerie Erga, Montreal QC, 2016, à la Galerie LaHave, LaHave, Nouvelle-Ecosse 2022, et à la Galerie Erga, Montréal 2023.
